SPECIAL PROJECTS

Presentation

One of the permanent activities of the Office of the Subdirector of Collections Registration and Management, is scientific research on the collections in its custody. Thus, the collections departments have implemented the development of short- middle- and long-term research projects associated with the recovery of the original contexts to continue ongoing studies of these collections of the State to the extent they deserve. In this sense, during recent years the MNAAHP has developed in-depth studies involving the entire scientific staff of the Museum.

We regard research on the collections as the foundation for the existence of museums like ours and the fundamental component for developing and strengthening the museistic institutions of the country. Research not only permits more profound knowledge of the origins and importance of the objects in their safekeeping but it also allows the movement and maintenance of the collections, this being the only effective, gradual way of preserving them and establishing added value, increasing their historical value and reappraising our ancestral testimonies.
